Based on the findings of the Human Behind Every Number research project, we worked with the KCR team to design Curandus - a solution that supports patients and organizations throughout the clinical trial process.
The Story was responsible for developing the strategy, designing new services, business processes and the sales model, as well as creating the communication language and visual identity.
We designed support for two key groups involved in clinical trials.
The first solution addressed the needs of patients participating in clinical trials, supporting them throughout the different stages of the process.
Curandus is a digital solution that enables this service to be delivered at scale. The platform supports patients throughout the different stages of a clinical trial by improving access to information and communication. Its goal is to enhance the patient experience, improve recruitment effectiveness, and reduce participant dropout rates.
One of the platform’s features is an AI chatbot built with Amazon Lex, a technology that enables flexible conversation flows and continuous learning. The chatbot answers participants’ questions, helps them find the information they need, and reduces the workload of clinical trial staff.
The platform can be personalized to each patient, with features such as medication reminders, prescription fulfillment notifications, and upcoming appointment alerts. To help reduce the risk of patients dropping out of clinical trials, the solution also provides access to a dedicated call center.
The second key group was hospitals and medical teams conducting clinical trials.
For them, we developed a support model that complemented the resources and expertise needed to run clinical trials efficiently.
Curandus nurses supported hospital teams and doctors with tasks related to conducting clinical trials. This helped medical staff distribute responsibilities more effectively and focus on patient care.
The service enabled hospitals to participate in more clinical trials without having to expand their internal teams. Curandus provided the expertise and resources needed to run trials efficiently where existing capacity was limited.
The model addressed the shortage of medical staff in Central and Eastern Europe by giving healthcare facilities access to additional resources when they were needed most. In this way, it connected the business needs of hospitals with a real challenge facing the healthcare system.
At the same time, we developed Curandus’ communication language.
Its flexible form could adapt to different contexts, allowing the brand to communicate across various aspects of its offering - from comfort and emotions to a patient-centered approach.
This project translated research insights into concrete services, processes, and solutions supporting the entire clinical trial ecosystem.
From strategy and Service Design to branding, communication, and technology.
